Three Ways to Add Romance on Your Trip: a guest post by Angela Burks

3 Ways to Add Romance

on Your Trip

The excitement of going somewhere new or revisiting a favorite destination and finally taking a break from the “normal” are things we all look forward to when it comes to an upcoming vacation.

Even more so, when we get to share this experience with our significant others. Whether it’s a quick weekend getaway or an extended stay in a foreign country, take time to kick it up a notch by doing a few unexpected gestures to show your significant other how much they mean to you — making your trip a romantic memory you both won’t forget.

Leave love notes

Surprise your other half by choosing meaningful greeting cards and leaving them in an obvious place that you know they’ll find. Places such as on top of their nightstand so it’s visible when they first wake up, or in the bathroom vanity so they see it when they start to get ready for the day. The element of surprise always makes it more fun, and at the same time the messages in the cards will be something they’ll always remember.

As a bonus, the cards can be a little souvenir collection they take home with them to remember the special trip. Especially if you give them a card a day.

Plan an unpredictable stop

If you know your better half’s favorite hobbies, foods or interests, secretly plan a special day where you can spend time enjoying them (even if you’re not a fan of it). Perhaps a day spent horseback riding, an afternoon hike, or a night by a bonfire with a bottle of wine and a favorite dinner of theirs can make the trip more interesting and leave a lasting impression to the point where they’ll fall in love with you all over again.

If you don’t know where or how to start planning a surprise like this, call some local businesses in the area a few weeks prior to your trip so you can use a trusted source. They can also help you set everything up from the location and help with services you’ll be needing.

Be “Cliché

Spend a whole day doing what you read about in romance novels. Make breakfast for the both of you to enjoy in bed, or on top of a cliff or mountain watching the sun come up. Enjoying the comfort of your privacy can strike up the mood and set the tone for the day. Being romantic doesn’t have to be expensive.

Something as simple as stargazing can turn into a nostalgic night with  affection and amorous conversation. Bring some snacks and a thermos filled with hot chocolate or a favorite herbal tea, turn off technology, and enjoy the peacefulness of each other’s company.

The important thing is to take the time to create special moments on your trip that will always be memorable to your other half because of the way you made them feel. Make sure that whatever you choose to do, it leaves a lasting impression that they can always look back and reflect on.

Wow, these are great tips!
