Three Ways to Host a Date Night at Your Place: a guest post by Angela Burks

3 Ways to Host A Date Night

at Your Place

The best part about staying in is that you have options. Options to get as elegant as you’d like or as casual as you can get. Due to schedules, weather, or just being burnt out from a long day, going out for date night can be a challenge sometimes, whether you’re living together or not, and more so now with the pandemic causing some social anxiety and worry. Whatever your reason is for staying in, take the opportunity to get creative and turn your place into one of the most memorable dates for the both of you.

Here are some ideas to plan your next date at home with your significant other — depending on your mood.

1. Intimate dinner for two

Instead of making reservations at that fancy restaurant with the dim lights and the snazzy table setting, why not host your own candlelit dinner? If cooking intimidates you, you can always order takeout from your favorite restaurant so that you can just take care of providing the ambiance. Minor additions like table linens from August Table, rose petals, candle votives, elegant place settings, and some light jazz music in the background can transform a basic dining table into the best seat in the house.

Don’t forget the after-dinner wine or dessert so you can keep your steamy conversation going long after the meal is done.

2. Game night

Whether it’s a game of Monopoly, a music face-off on Guitar Hero, a dance competition on your Dance Dance Revolution game, or a simple card game, you are sure to get some laughs and great fun in.

If you’ve reached a point in your relationship where you’re comfortable double-dating, then this is sure to be fun with a bigger group. Games like Twister or Karaoke can be played among the four of you while you spend some quality time together doing something different, other than your “Netflix and chill” Friday night routine.

Make sure to have plenty of snacks and drinks to give you that sugar boost to bring your competitive side out.

3. Bake off

After a long day of work, the last thing you may want to do is cook a full course meal to eat. If that’s the case, having a bake off will allow you to enjoy dinner together while also adding an after-dinner activity.

Whether it’s simple sugar cookies, cupcakes or brownies, a little contest in the sweets department will bring out some friendly competition and a variety of goodies, which you can enjoy together while watching a movie. If you have a patio or deck, you can also enjoy dessert outdoors along with some decaf coffee while watching the night sky.

There are endless possibilities for date nights you can do at home. Trying different things is the best way to know what your significant other enjoys, and is half of the fun. The best part about it is you can’t fail because no matter what you do, as long as you’re together, you’re creating memories.

Thank you, Angela, for this useful article…like you said, it works especially when many of us are wary of public exposure now with the Coronavirus pandemic. ♥♥♥
