New Release Feature: The Depth of the Spirit by Linda Lee Williams, plus giveaway!

I am pleased to announce a great book release by Linda Lee Williams, an author I met during my journey! Her contemporary inspirational romance, The Depth of the Spirit, officially released in late January! Yay! That’s awesome! :) Congrats on your new release!:)

When a new book comes out, it’s always an exciting time for an author!

Linda is giving us a look at her inspirational romance, The Depth of the Spirit, today.

Nice cover!

This is the blurb for The Depth of the Spirit:

When an accident leaves Thomas crippled and in a wheelchair, he resigns himself to life as a bachelor—not an easy thing for a young man to accept.  Then fate drops Margot in his lap.  Margot understands the frustrations and challenges of Thomas’ disability.  She knows the pain of loss.  Has serendipity brought Thomas and Margot together?  Or has his dead friend’s prophecy come true?  Only Kayla knows for sure…

And here is an excerpt from The Depth of the Spirit to tease you with.

Midweek, I’m mired in policy renewals and quotes.  My mother quit her job as an X-ray technician to care for me.  Now, she works as my assistant.  The phone in the office den rings, and a man asks for Joyce.  “For you, Mom,” I say.  She turns from the file cabinet and picks up on her extension.  I smile as she schmoozes with the client.  She’s a natural.

While she’s talking, my cell sings out a Coldplay number.  I swallow.  Holy crap.  Margot.  Did her truck break down again?

“Hi, Margot.  Everything okay?”

“I’ve been thinking about it, and I’ve decided we should definitely be friends.”

“Hmm.  In that case, I have a favor to ask of you.”

“Really?  Anything.  What can I do?”

A nectar feeder hangs under the eave outside the window.  Trilling, a male hummingbird flies in.  He hovers, sips, and flashes his magenta throat.  I draw in a breath.  “Will you go to a graduation party with me a week from Saturday?  If you’re not working, I mean…”

“I’d love to!  Is the graduate a relative?”

“Sort of.  My best friend’s kid sister.”

“Dustin?” Margot says.

I’m shocked she remembers—shocked and pleased.  “Yeah.  You can meet him at the party.  He’s an okay guy.  Better than okay, actually.  You’ll like him.”

“If he’s your best friend, I’m sure I will.”

I relish the sound of her voice, the thought of seeing her, even if I am essentially fixing her up with Dustin.  Lots of girls crushed on him in high school, but his heart belonged to Kayla, and it still does.  Maybe Margot can change that.  Although regret ripples through me at the prospect, I’m doing the right thing.  I have a chance to honor Kayla’s last request, whether I imagined her visitation or not.  She would want Dustin to be happy again.

My mom ends her call.  I swivel away from my tabletop desk and out into the foyer.  “So, can I pick you up at one, Margot?”

“Sure.  Why not?”  I hear the teasing smile in her voice.

“Hey, that’s my line…”

She laughs.  “Let’s get together before then.  Are you free Friday evening?  We could meet for dinner somewhere?”

Rat-a-tat-tat goes my heart.  I glance behind me, but my mom is typing at the computer.  “Uh…yeah, that would be great.  What did you have in mind?”

“Chili’s again?  I think we should make it our place.”

Our place?  There isn’t an us, is there?

“Okay,” I say.  “What time?”

“Five?  That way, we can beat the rush.”

“Fine with me.  I’ll see you then.”  I mumble goodbye before she can renege.  Part of me is elated, the other part numb.  Margot asked me out on a date.

What people are saying about this book:

A to Z Challenge: Sisters of the Night by Linda Lee Williams

As you know, I’m putting myself to the A to Z Challenge for blogging for the month of April.

A2Z-BADGE_[2016]

For these posts, I’ll be giving an I Love Romance Blog score, not an official review, for books currently on my shelf at home (I know readers must wonder what books inspires us as authors) or ones that are on my TBR list (what I want to read so bad I can’t stand it!). For each book, I will give the blurb, a few lines from the text, then why I liked the book or why I’d want to read it. And for fun, I’ll give a heart rating! ♥

This is my scoring system:

I hope these A to Z Challenge suggestions will help you find a new favorite author, or further cement your love for one, if that’s the case.

Let’s jump into our next book, shall we?

Sisters of the Night by Linda Lee Williams

41JWiF+PvGL._SX311_BO1,204,203,200_

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Blurb:

Emaline Hoffbrau is a beautiful, confident vampire. After losing the vampire man she loved, she doubts that her soul mate exists. When the charming Garrett Thompson comes along, he turns her world upside-down. Can Garrett accept what Emaline is? Or will he break her heart in a different way?

Juliana Slater is a gorgeous, manipulative vampire. She’s married to Chad Browning, a “regular man.” Although Chad loves Juliana, he’s not sure he wants to be her husband anymore. Will a tragedy decide their fate? Or can the two of them forgive each other and learn to trust again?

Gretchen Eberhardt is living with Bertram Fulbright, a sexy vampire and “ladies’ man.” To complicate matters, he’s slept with her best fang friends. Can a vampire couple find lasting love together? Or will Bert abandon Gretchen for another woman one day?

A few choice lines from the book:

Best fang friends…

When Emaline returned to their table, Juliana grabbed her arm.  “Guess who I just saw?”

“Garrett,” she said as she sat down.  “I have no idea what he’s doing here, Hilliard.  I told him I never wanted to see him again.”

“He must want to see you, Emaline.”

“He doesn’t have the balls to come over, not with all of us sitting at this table.”

Juliana arched a brow.  “Really?  Well, if I’m not mistaken, that’s him heading our way right now.”

Emaline looked, and sure enough, it was Garrett…long, lean, and just as handsome as ever.  Her heart skipped several beats.  As if right on cue, Hilliard put his arm around her.

“Happy Saint Patrick’s Day,” Garrett said, grinning like a leprechaun.  His gaze drifted from Emaline to the cake.  “Are you getting married, Gretchen?”

Everyone was smiling at him, except Hilliard and Emaline.

Gretchen nodded.  “To this guy right here.”

“Hey, congratulations.”

Bert shook the hand he extended.  He glanced around the table.  “It’s nice to see you again, Juliana.  Sorry, I don’t know the rest of you…”

Emaline’s rudeness forced Juliana to introduce Garrett to everyone else.  His hazel eyes twinkled with alcohol and merriment as he watched her.

“Just wanted to say hi, Em.  Now, you don’t have to be afraid you’ll run into me.”

“Garrett, would you please just leave?” she said.

“Yeah, sure.  Have fun.”  His smile faded as he walked away.

Juliana stared at her.  “God, Emaline.  You didn’t have to be so mean to him.”

“Don’t you understand?  He views us as curiosities.”

Bert shrugged a shoulder.  “We are curiosities.”

“I don’t care.  I still think he had a lot of nerve coming over here when he can see I’m with someone else.”

Amused, Hilliard said, “I guess you shouldn’t have slept with him, then…or bitten him.”

Emaline flushed.  “I told you that in confidence, Doctor.”

All the women laughed, Carly the loudest.  “My, you are a busy girl, Emaline,” she teased.  “Seriously, it took a lot of courage for Garrett to come over here.  Hilliard doesn’t give a damn, do you, Hilly?”

“I only give a damn if he’s harassing her.  If not, then it’s Emaline’s call.”

“What is it you don’t like about him, honey?” Sonya asked.

“Maybe he’s no good in bed.  Most men aren’t,” Anke said, and she and Elsa snickered and nudged each other.  Bert chuckled, shaking his head.

Gretchen observed her.  “You should apologize to Garrett.  You hurt his feelings.”

Juliana nodded.  “Yes, you should.  Not that I recommend taking up with a regular man.  Right now, I could drain Chad dry and leave his lifeless body in a heap somewhere.”

Hilliard filled Juliana’s and his wine goblets.  “You never know, Emaline.  Garrett could be your heart’s true desire.”

“Oh, for God’s sake.  Now you sound like my poor, misguided mother.”

“Gretchen’s mother is misguided.  Yours is sage and sweet-tempered,” Bert said.

Emaline frowned, sure that everyone and everything was against her.  She started to pass around plates.  “Juliana, cut the cake.  Then maybe Bert will cut the crap.”

That brought a round of laughter.  Gretchen gazed at her fiancé, her dark eyes glittering almost as brightly as her three-carat diamond.

A sick knot formed in the pit of Emaline’s stomach.

My Score:

The author, Linda, is a close friend of mine, and I have to say I have been dying to read Sisters of the Night ever since I read the first book in the Blood & Company Series, Old Town Nights! I absolutely loved it and when there were other sequels, I knew I’d love them too!

Now, though I haven’t yet read Sisters, I do have it on my Kindle. I’ve just been so swamped with work. I do plan to read it as soon as I can.

I give this book five hearts, because who can resist three paranormal romance tales in one book? Or a book about vampires? Not me! 🙂

And readers, don’t forget to check out the whole series!

A to Z Challenge: Elsewhere by Linda Lee Williams

As you know by now, I’m putting myself to the A to Z Challenge for blogging for the month of April.

Elsewhere by Linda Lee Williams

51e+7Z-9WAL._SX311_BO1,204,203,200_

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Blurb:

When Errol Fleming moves in across the hall from Andie McNaughton, her life takes another unforeseen and perilous turn. Sweet, shy, and a bit reclusive, Andie has enough phobias to confirm that she’s “crazy.” Beautiful but imperfect, Errol bears his own disability. Despite the challenges their relationship faces, they decide to take a chance on each other.

Their future is threatened, however, when Andie hears a voice and dreams about “Noah.” She begins having visions of the handsome stranger and traveling in her mind to a mystical tropical island. Errol’s haunting dreams about the island and Noah’s obsession with Andie only add to the mystery of what’s happening…

Is Noah a figment of Andie’s imagination? Or does he exist in an alternate reality? More important, can Errol save Andie from the idyllic world she’s escaped to? Or will he lose her to her phantom lover?

A few choice lines from the book:

He leaned over to kiss her lips.  They were dry and cool, not at all the way he remembered them.  Her fair skin, which normally blushed at the slightest provocation, was colorless, as if the life had already been drained out of her, and her spirit wasn’t far behind.  It made the deep bronze hair that framed her face seem even darker.

“Andie,” he whispered, close to her ear.  “Andie, please hear me.”

Errol sighed in frustration.  He had to find the right words.  Words that could break through the barrier of the other world she had escaped to in her mind.  Something he could say that would convince her she belonged here, not there.

His grip tightened on her arm, as if willing her to pay attention.  “Andie, wherever you are, wake up.  Wake up and listen to me.  You can’t leave me, Andie.  You can’t.  I need you, more than you ever needed me.  I know I’m not perfect, like he is…but I’m real, and what we have together is real.”

For a moment, he thought he detected movement behind her eyelids.  He kissed her lips again, more firmly.  “I’m here, Andie, and I love you.  I love you, just the way you are.  You’ve heard voices in your head before.  Damn it, hear mine.”

My Score:

This book is in my collection as well. I had the opportunity to read this novel a few years ago, and it wasn’t disappointing in the least. With a unique set of characters paired with unusual circumstances, this story is worth every penny. I loved Andie and Errol. I rooted for them despite every obstacle they faced. I kept wondering if Andie would choose her dream lover or stay in the present with Errol.

I have to credit Linda Lee Williams not only for her imaginative spin on the typical love triangle, but also for making me truly believe in damaged characters, that the most unlikely heroes are the best ones. Five hearts all the way for this stunning romance! 😀

New Release: The Breadth of the Soul by author Linda Lee Williams

I am happy to announce a cool book release by my long-time author friend, Linda Lee Williams! Her holiday book, The Breadth of the Soul, officially released eight days ago! Yay! That’s awesome, Linda! 🙂

When a new book comes out, it is always an exciting time for an author!

Linda is giving us a fun look at her new romance novella, The Breadth of the Soul, today.

BREADTH-OF-THE-SOUL-1smallr

Cool cover!

This is the blurb:

She doesn’t know who she is or why she’s come to Colorado Springs. Dustin has no idea why he’s met her. Kayla whispers that her name is Ruby—if he can believe the voice of a spirit in the night. Separate tragedies, years apart, form an invisible bond between Ruby and him. A chance encounter over the Holidays? Or a match made in Heaven? Only Kayla knows for sure…

And here is an excerpt to tease everyone.

All Dustin wanted to do was go home and take a nap. He deserved that, didn’t he? Hadn’t he done enough chivalrous shit for one day? Driving away from the hotel, he felt guilty for leaving Brandy—or whoever the hell she was. Why hadn’t he minded his own business in Lutz’s? No one else cared that she was crying. Why had Janette sat him in the booth near Brandy’s? Why hadn’t he plopped his ass on a stool at the counter like he usually did?

Damn it, Kayla. Get out of my head. Stop trying to be my moral compass…

Dustin slowed at the first intersection, swung into a gas station, and turned his truck around. He knew he should go back to the shop to pick up his SUV, but he didn’t have time.

When he entered the hotel, he didn’t see her. He approached the desk clerk. “Excuse me. Did the lady who was here check in yet?”

“She went to the restroom.”

Dustin headed down a hallway. He halted at the correct door, knocking. “Brandy, are you in there?”

She came out, her eyes red-rimmed. “Did you forget something?” she asked, sniffling.

He commandeered her suitcase. “Yeah—you. Look, I can’t leave you here, okay? Not in your present state of mind.”

“Don’t make me go to the police, Dustin. They’ll think I’m nuts and have me locked up.”

“I want you to stay with me, at least until we can make some sense out of this.”

“Is it all right with your…significant other?”

“Yeah, she’s on board. Believe me.”

She trailed him into the lobby. “I’m sorry to be such a pain. I know you didn’t ask for this, to be burdened with a stranger who has amnesia, and I…”

“Please, stop crying and stop apologizing. I’m not the saint you make me out to be.”

“But you’re helping me, and you don’t have to.”

“That’s where you’re wrong, Brandy. Sometimes, we have no choice in the matter.”
