Book Review: Ginny H.’s impression of Lyrical Embrace by Amber Daulton

Hi, readers! The latest I Love Romance Blog review selection is Lyrical Embrace by Amber Daulton. Take it away, Ginny!

Thank you!

Lyrical Embrace

Erica ran from Phil, he was abusive, and she had enough. While running away from Phil while taking a detour around a traffic accident, she ended up with her car breaking down in the pouring rain just outside the small town of Willow Creek.

Dylan was driving home when he stopped to help a stranded girl. Her car had broken down, and she was soaking wet from the rain. Erica thought she recognized the man who rescued her. Dylan was an ex-band member of a band called Fortune’s Glory. However, she was not a groupie of the band, one of Erica’s favorite bands. They both enjoyed music. She played the violin, and he taught music to students that attended his parent’s music studio.

The book is a small-town love affair. The author did a great job with the villain  Phil, her ex, returning to the picture after he locates Erica in Willow Creek. I found the book easy to read. Characters were brought in perfectly throughout the book.

The author did a good job talking about the abusive character, and it was not a play-by-play of Phil hitting Erica. It was Erica telling Dylan what had happened. Though a sensitive subject for some, it was well handled.

Book Info:

Out-of-work violinist Erica Timberly decides enough is enough. She leaves her abusive boyfriend and flees the big city, but then her car breaks down in the middle of the night. Though wary of men, she accepts help from Dylan Haynes, a stranger driving by on the road, and soon recognizes him as the sexy former drummer of her favorite indie rock band. Maybe, just maybe, her run of bad luck is finally turning around.
Music teacher Dylan Haynes knows Erica is in trouble, and her black eye is only the first clue. The stubborn yet vulnerable woman needs a friend, but he’s determined to give her everything she deserves.
Will Erica listen to the music in her heart and trust Dylan, or will her past always threaten her future?
— Book 4 in the Deerbourne Inn series (multi-author series with The Wild Rose Press). It precedes Harmony’s Embrace, the sequel. All the books in this series are standalones.

Here’s a teaser from the book…

EXCERPT 1

Headlights? Crap. Rain slicked Erica from head to toe, but she managed to tighten her grip on the heavy flashlight. Though only twenty-three years old, she’d lived too long in New York City to trust a stranger blindly, and she’d learned a hard lesson about trusting men from her last boyfriend.

Erica held her breath as the vehicle slowed down and drove past her, and then she grumbled a few choice words as the car pulled over onto the shoulder. Someone stepped out of the driver’s seat and stomped toward her.

The taillights lit up the tall, broad-shouldered figure like a demon coming out of the storm. A beam of white light then shot toward her as the stranger held up a flashlight.

She lifted her hand to ward off the glare, and the stranger immediately lowered the light to the open hood of her car. “Trouble, huh?” The man looked at the engine, his voice deep and a little rough as though he was irritated to be out in the rain.

“What’s the problem?” Erica licked her lips. They stood close enough to touch, so she stepped away from him.

He turned toward her and lifted his arms in a gesture of peace. “Whoa. Hold on. I’m not here to hurt you. It looks as though you could use some help. I’m no mechanic, but your car is stuck in several inches of mud. You’re not getting out of here tonight. If you’re having engine trouble, too, then you’re in one hell of a pickle.” He lowered the hood and snapped it shut. “No need to get water in there. That will only damage the engine more. Do you need a ride, or is someone coming to pick you up?”

EXCERPT 2

Erica leaned up and combed her fingers through her hair. “I’ve never made love outside before. It’s a surreal experience.”

“We can do it wherever you want. In an elevator, in an alley, in my car. I’m game anywhere and everywhere for as long as you want me.”

“I want you so much it hurts.”

Dylan thumbed her knuckles and hoped she meant that. “I don’t know how you feel about labels, but I haven’t had a girlfriend in years. I’ve just had flings, but I want more than that with you. I want us to be with each other and no one else. I want a relationship with you.”

Guest Blogger/Reviewer Bio:

I go by Ginny Hofmiller when I write or review books. I indulge in reading and writing romance stories whenever I have free time. I picked up Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume as a child and then began reading Harlequin Romance Novels. My reading preferences shifted during my adult years, and I developed a fondness for Futuristic Novels and Vampire Novels. My YouTube channel, Creative Crafts with Ginny, centers on art/painting projects. My channel has been successful, but I am looking to expand its content to include book reviews and discussions, hoping to promote my books on the same platform. I have worked in the corporate/government for over 30 years. I taught communication courses at the University of Phoenix for about ten years. When not writing or reading, I work on paint-by-numbers projects or produce videos for my channel in my studio.
